If you’re a University of Pretoria (UP) student returning for your second, third or fourth year of study in 2024, WELCOME BACK!

Congratulations again on your decision to #ChooseUP, and we hope last year delivered all the academic rewards you were hoping for – with not too many bumps in the road!

Although you know your campus now and have some experience of UP’s procedures, systems and student support resources, this article is designed to list all the most important information you need to bear in mind when it comes to kicking off your new academic year in a way that sets you up for even greater academic achievements in 2024.

• Always quote your student number (EMPLID) when making payments
• Allow at least five working days for processing of payments by your bank, and retain the proof of payment (deposit slip)
• Don’t email your deposit slip to UP, unless specifically requested to do so (emailing it will not reduce processing time or allow same-day service)
• No payment arrangements can be made for the registration fee or residence reservation fee

Other important tips (and dates you should diarise) include:

• Look after your 2023 student card. You will not be able to access UP campuses without it, and your card can only be replaced after you pay a fee
• Save yourself from standing in long queues – sort out any administrative issues BEFORE classes start
• Classes will resume on Monday, 19 February 2024. Find the full academic calendar here
• Residence students who have been allocated a space in an official UP residence can move into their residences from Saturday, 3 February 2024
• For all faculty-related enquiries (modules, closing date for module changes, etc), here is a list of contact persons in your faculty
• UP registration for the 2024 academic year is fully online. Online registration opens on 3 January 2024. Should you have any problems, contact the online registration helpdesk on 012 420 5347 or send an email to [email protected]
