We’re here to help you navigate university life, one step at a time.

Here’s what we offer:

First-year Orientation: Our orientation program is all about making sure new students have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to succeed both academically and personally. With a combination of Pre-orientation, Orientation Week, and an Online Extended Orientation, we aim to guide students every step of the way as they transition into university life.

Academic Success Coaching: It is our coaches’ mission to be present and available for students who seek assistance and support and to empower them as they explore and develop their academic and personal goals.

Peer advising: Senior students, who have already navigated the university experience, assist fellow students by guiding them through available support services. These peer advisors provide valuable insights and practical advice on how to manage university life, ensuring students have the resources and knowledge they need to succeed.

On-Campus Activations: FLY@UP runs a variety of on-campus activations throughout the year, from the start of each semester to exam periods. These activations include welcome-back events that refresh students’ minds about available support services and motivational activations before exams that offer study tips and tricks. Our activations aim to engage students and ensure they feel continuously supported throughout their academic journey.

Specsavers collaboration: In partnership with Hatfield Specsavers, FLY@UP offers a free eye test and reading glasses service once per semester. This collaboration is designed to help students who experience difficulties seeing in lecture halls or when reading their textbooks. It’s important to note that this is a limited collaboration, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Thrift pop-up shop: One of the most anticipated events of the year is our Thrift Pop-Up Shop. Hosted once per semester, this event allows students to shop for clothes for free. FLY@UP collects clothing donations, curates the items, and sets up a thrift shop where students can choose from a variety of pre-loved items. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to refresh their wardrobes without any cost, whilst being informed about our support services at UP.

Student Support@UP: FLY@UP provides 24/7 online support through the UP portal. Students can log a support inquiry at any time of the day or week, and we will ensure that they are connected with the correct support person quickly and efficiently. This service ensures that students always have access to the help they need, no matter when they need it.
