The University of Pretoria (UP) brand helps us to distinguish ourselves in the market. It’s what makes us unique and helps to attract the best students and partners, so that we can make an impact on the future.

Institutions like Oxford, Harvard and Stanford are highly recognisable in the global marketplace. These brands have been built over time through their use of a consistent look and feel, logo and colours.

UP’s brand line – Make Today Matter – is a call to action that reminds us that every day holds the potential to change the world, and that what we do today can contribute to a better tomorrow. The values that we live through our brand encourage us to take action, collaborate, maintain excellence in everything that we do and encourage diversity.

Furthermore, we Make Today Matter in our teaching, learning, innovation, impact and how we live THE UP WAY.

Our brand line cuts across multiple levels of staff actions and interactions, and includes our customer journey with students. The University logo is a representation of the UP brand. As such, the correct application of the logo and other visual elements identifies the brand in the market.

Promoting our brand

Each employee represents the UP brand, and has the responsibility of reflecting it correctly at every opportunity. This means that all official communication and marketing material used for both internal and external communication should always look professional and be aligned with the brand imperatives.

Visit the Multimedia and Brand Hub on the staff portal for updates, and to find stationery and presentation templates. If you have special branding needs that are not available on this platform, please contact UP’s Marketing Manager, Isabel de Necker, at the Department of Institutional Advancement (DIA). Email her at [email protected]

The Multimedia and Brand Hub contains both faculty-specifict and corporate/institutional templates. It is imperative that official corpporate templates are used when representing the university at a conference or infront of the audience. Faculty-specifict termplates are recommended for class and other faculty specifict communication and marketing purposes.
