First-years, be sure to join in on UP’s Welcome Day on 6 March 2021!

Posted on March 05, 2021

We are delighted to welcome you to the University of Pretoria (UP).

Congratulations on becoming part of our dynamic and diverse student community, where your academic success and holistic well-being matter.

Welcome Day is one of the most important days on the University’s academic calendar; it’s the day on which we formally welcome our first-year students and their parents or guardians into our UP family and community.

You and your parents or guardians are hereby invited to our first-ever virtual Welcome Day event, which takes place on Saturday 6 March 2021 from 9am to 10:30am (please log in from 8:45am) on our Virtual Campus. During the event, UP’s senior leadership team will be introduced to you, and UP Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Tawana Kupe will address new students and their families.

Information about your faculty, Academic Orientation Week, how to register, how to choose your modules, and how to get the best results from studying online, and more, will be available during the event. You will also be able to view UP’s campuses virtually.

Attending this event also gives you the opportunity to win one of five UP hampers valued at R1 000 each! To qualify you must answer at least two questions correctly during the programme. Note that other terms and conditions apply.

A confirmation email will be sent to you with your personalised link on 5 March 2021; that link will grant you access to the event. Your link will be live on only 6 March 2021 from 8:45am. If you have not received a personalised link, you can access the event by clicking on this one: https://virtualcampus.up.ac.za/welcomeday/

Please remember to keep a close watch on the University’s official communication channels, including UP’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter profiles, for any changes to the schedule.

For more information on registration go to www.up.ac.za/online-registration, and for more on orientation go to www.up.ac.za/orientation.

It is crucial that students have an internet-enabled device, preferably a laptop, in order to access online classes. To learn more about laptop specifications, go to www.up.ac.za/faq > IT.

Congratulations once again on your decision to #ChooseUP. We look forward to welcoming you as you start your rewarding academic journey!
