Posted on October 11, 2019

UP’s School of the Arts recently presented a Music Staff Concert at the Musaion, Hatfield Campus. The staff performance was an opportunity for the University to experience the School of the Arts’ prolific talent in of the offering of classical music, jazz, African music, music technology, opera studies, and performing arts.

Dr Marinda Maree, Project Manager: School of the Arts, said “Last night’s event was an excellent showcase of music programmes we present and of the broad focus of the School of the Arts: Music, catering for classical music to jazz and musical works from the past to present.”

The concert also displayed UP Music’s resolution to decolonise the music curriculum by focusing on programmes beyond classic music, such as jazz and traditional music. UP Music also offers music technology which strives to exceed the boundaries of musical expression by means of technology use.
