The TuksRes Festival will be hosted by the University of Pretoria’s Department of Residence Affairs and Accommodation on 3 August at the Hillcrest Sport Campus and Uitspan.
Lanché van Tonder, Manager Residence Management and Student Life, said the annual event was started in 2017 with the purpose of creating a fun and exciting space for students to enjoy student life at UP together.
“By creating this event we are providing a safe and controlled environment for our students to participate and compete in sporting codes, while also making some time to relax with their peers,” said Van Tonder.
Furthermore, this event is planned with the aim of collaboration between TuksRes, the Department: Student Affairs, TuksSport, Tuks FM and the Department: Facilities Management. All 28 official residences are invited to participate, as well as all the day and faculty houses that come under the Department: Student Affairs.
Students can participate in the following sports at the festival:

“House Committee members from the various residences and houses assist with this process,” he said.
Participation and supporting of these codes will contribute to three overall prizes of the day, which include sponsorships that will go towards the winners’ house funds. The prizes are:
Furthermore, there will be a social event where staff and students will enjoy food stalls and a beer garden with gin bars. They will also be entertained by live performances throughout the day.
