Ms Cecilia Myburgh, Director of the University of Pretoria’s Department of Enrolment and Student Administration (DESA), has been appointed to the Council of Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training. “I feel honoured to be selected to the Council,” Myburgh says. “I look forward to being part of an inspiring team tasked with a great responsibility.”

The official announcement of her appointment on a four-year tenure was made at a formal function in Pretoria recently. The event was attended by Umalusi staff and several dignitaries from the education sector, including Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga, who was the keynote speaker.

In her speech, Minister Motshekga said she’s looking forward to receiving professional and sound advice from Umalusi on different aspects of the education and training system. Myburgh in turn said she’s looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the general and further education and training sector in South Africa, through the work of Umalusi.
