Prof Daan Swiegers: 14 January 1924 - 12 August 2011 

It is with regret and sadness that TuksAlumni learnt of the death of  one of South Africa and Tukkies' greatest and most loved sons of rugby, Prof Daan Swiegers. 

From 1947 to 1989 (when he retired) Prof Swiegers was involved with Tuks Rugby for 42 years,  as player, captain and coach.  He also served for a record number of years as Springbuck selector and convenor as well as selector for Northern Transvaal and Vice President of the former Northern Transvaal Rugby Union.  He was Professor in Psychology at UP from 1971. 

His memorial service takes place on: 

Thursday 18 August 2011 at 10:00 in the "NG Kerk Pretoria-Oos" (opposite Loftus Versfeld), c/o Kirkness & Lynnwood road.
