The main objective of the faculty is to offer quality tuition at both pre- and postgraduate levels which meets the national and international standards. According to Prof Buitendag, he sees his new role as facilitating the faculty towards an increasingly inclusive character, without compromising scholarly demands.

“The faculty should be a multi-church faculty which reflects the demographics of the country, but still be recognised as an academic institution of excellence both locally and internationally”, said Prof Buitendag. Each ecclesiastical partner should therefore identify herself with the faculty and recognises the Faculty as “her own”.

Prof Buitendag will take the reigns from the current Faculty Dean, Professor Cas Vos, with effect from 01 March 2010.
