He added: “To get our house in order, we will unfortunately have to be cruel to be kind at first as mediocrity can no longer be tollerated. Excellence must become the new buzzword. TuksRugby’s rich tradition is such that we can no longer be satisfied with just being above average at best. We’ll have to work harder, play harder and think harder. There is no other way to make it to the top.”

Blikkies'  vision for TuksRugby is to make selection for Tuks 1 the pinnacle for any player, even those students contracted by the Blue Bulls Company.

“We need a new breed of players who will again be prepared to run through the proverbial wall just for the privilege of playing for Tuks 1. Proud players play proud rugby and get proud results.”

Tuks play Brits on Saturday in their second Carlton Cup fixture of the season. The team will only be finalised at training tonight (14 April).
