Tuks go on rampage against Naka Bulle

Posted on June 26, 2010

For a change Tuks did not stop playing after building up a big lead, but instead kept the foot on the pedal and made Naka pay dearly for the mistakes they made behind the advantage line.

Tuks’ forwards was not intimidated by Naka Bulle’s aggressive play and stood their ground admirably. It was good to see how tight forwards like Corne Fourie (prop), Peet Botma (lock) and Chris Crous (hooker) kept their cool under extreme pressure. It was, however, the performance of flanker Louis van Biljon that highlighted a very good Tuks win. He did not only score two tries, but his real worth was his brilliant play at the break down points.

In the back line Gertjie Smith (centre), fullback Boeboes Coetzee and winger Dirk Dippenaar caught the eye.

“This is the way to go and our performance shows beyond any doubt the potential we have,” said a contended Tuks head coach, Blikkies Groenewald.

• Tuks scorers:

Tries: Louis van Biljon (2), Marius Weber, Gertjie Smith, Gerhard van der Merwe, Dirk Dippenaar (2), Renier Wiessener, Devan Kruger, John-Wessel Bell (2). Conversions: Boeboes Coetzee (7).
