TuksCricket : What a magical season!

Posted on March 29, 2011

This was a truly remarkable season for some of the players. On the batting front, Tuks have seven batsmen in the top 20 runs scorers in the Northerns Premier League this season. Topping the tables is the captain, Maurice Aronstam, who scored 1099 runs with an average of 91. Francois le Clus is third overall, having scored 939 runs at an average of 83. Together these two were a lethal opening combination for Tuks 1, scoring no fewer that four 200 runs opening partnerships in the season.

Craig Letcher took the lead in Tuks 2, top scoring with 698 runs. Andre Malan scored 583 runs for Tuks 1 even though he got very few batting opportunities at the start of the season. Mario Correia was solid for Tuks 2, scoring 524 runs. Leon Nel, Tuks 1’s leading all-rounder scored 484 runs even though he missed numerous games due to work commitments. Ernest Kemm had a great season with both bat and ball and contributed 482 runs to Tuks 2. All these players ended up in the top 20 top runs scorers in the Northerns Premier League.

On the bowling front Tuks produced two rs in the Northerns Premier League top 20. The spinners seem to dominate this season with Maurice Aronstam leading the Tuks boys with 36 wickets. Leon Nel, the only fast bowler amongst the top Tuks bowlers, and Ernest Kemm both ended on 33 wickets each, while GC Pretorius took 31 wickets.

Tuks 2 fought back beautifully towards the end of the season to finish 3rd in the Northerns Premier League. Tuks 3 ended 3rd in their league whilst Tuks 4 8th in the same league. Tuks 5 did us proud by winning their league and Tuks 6 ended mid table in their league. The Tuks ladies showed their class by winning a very competitive league by 2 points.

From the coaching staff we would like to congratulate all the teams and wish them well on a long awaited and well deserved break.
