This interactive children’s drama production takes place from 9 until 20 February 2010 in the UP Arts Masker Theatre (Hatfield Campus of the University of Pretoria).
According to the director, Mareli Minnaar, “William and the Grey Suits” explores the mystery and wonder of the dream world – the world of possibility. We follow our hero in his stark, dreary everyday existence, filled with routine and bleakness. Spurred on by his tiny hope that there could be more, he starts to explore, daring to discard his blinkers, and discovers a wonderful world of colour and creativity. It also deals with important life-lessons, like the importance of family and the right friends.
Minnaar says audiences should be prepared to be mesmerised by UP Drama’s new journey into the unknown. She adds that it is not only suitable for children, but invites everyone with an appreciation for beauty, music puppetry, colour and magic to be uplifted.
Prof Marié-Heleen Coetzee, Head of UP Drama, said that UP Drama Department is proud to work with well-known actress, writer and producer Mareli Minnaar, especially since Mareli is an alumna of UP Drama department.
Minnaar, an accomplished theatre artist and a regular participant in national arts festivals is also a regular face and voice in popular media (Kompleks and Getroud met Rugby).
UP Arts will provide the technical production services for the show.
