Mr van der Veen is the author of Africa: From the Cold War to the 21st Century (2002) and Why Asia has become rich and powerful (2010). He is also Professor of International Relations at the Unviersity of Amsterdam and Professor for Dutch Foreign Policy at the University of Groningen, and specialises in the political economy and development of Africa and Asia.
