GIBS welcomes Rotterdam School of Management

Posted on July 15, 2011

GIBS hosted 84 2nd year Executive MBA students from the Rotterdam School of Management in February this year. The first year EMBA class was scheduled to go to Japan but due to the recent developments there, they had to find an alternative destination for their global trip. They did not hesitate in choosing South Africa as the alternative and we were delighted to host them again. The students spent the week of 4th-8th July immersed in a programme that consisted of classroom sessions, experiential and company visits. They were blown away by the dynamics of our complex society with their visit to Alexandra township where they spent time with NGO’s who, with very little resources, are making a difference in the lives of others. This visit marked the highlight of their week. The BOP Hub presentation highlighted the work being done in low-income markets and linked well with the Standard Bank visit where the students got an opportunity to see how the banks in SA have used technology to develop innovative products to reach low-end markets that currently fall outside the economic mainstream. Others visits included the Apartheid Museum, SAB Miller and Pick ‘n Pay.
