It gives us great pleasure to announce that Prof Skelton from the Centre for Child Law in the Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria, has received the World's Children's Foundation's honorary award together with Sakena Yacoobi from Afghanistan. Anna Mollel from Tanzania received the World's Children's Prize after receiving the most votes from children worldwide.

Prof Skelton was "commended for her more than 20 year long successful fight for the rights of children affected by the justice system. Ann has done groundbreaking work for South Africa's children, both in the court rooms and by changing laws affecting children."

The patrons of the World's Children's Prize include Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi and Sweden's Queen Silvia. At this year's award ceremony, Desmond Tutu joined them.
