Admission requirements

  1. Relevant master’s degree
  2. In the case of a coursework master’s degree, the research component must comprise at least 50% of the degree and there should be a minimum mark of 70% for the mini-dissertation
  3. A weighted average of at least 70% for the master’s degree
  4. An admissions essay may be required

Note: Additional work/modules may be required in order to reach the desired level of competency

Additional requirements

  • Prospective students may have to submit an admissions essay or sit for an examination or do additional modules to enable them to reach the desired level of study.
  • An acceptable level of proficiency in English or Afrikaans is required.
  • An approved research proposal is also required.

Core modules

  • Module-inhoud:

    A research dissertation, based on independent research conducted by the student on an approved topic in a relevant field, is written under the guidance of a supervisor. The essence of the thesis is to provide proof of independent research and to make a contribution to the discipline of sociology.

Die inligting wat hier verskyn, is onderhewig aan verandering en kan na die publikasie van hierdie inligting gewysig word.. Die Algemene Regulasies (G Regulasies) is op alle fakulteite van die Universiteit van Pretoria van toepassing.
