Programinligting

Hierdie program is gerig op die verwerwing van spesialis-musiekvaardighede en -kennis. Die program kan so saamgestel word dat studente ná afloop daarvan gekwalifiseerd is vir ’n groot verskeidenheid musiekverwante beroepe, wat onder andere die volgende insluit: solo-uitvoerder, orkes- of kamermusiekspeler, musiekonderwyser op alle vlakke (vir individuele sowel as groeponderrig), musiekwetenskaplike, en -tegnoloog asook entrepreneur en impressario.

Sluitingsdatum vir aansoeke: 30 Junie jaarliks (laat aansoeke op aanvraag).

Toelatingsvereistes

  • Die volgende persone sal vir toelating oorweeg word: ‘n kandidaat wat oor ‘n sertifikaat beskik wat deur die Universiteit as gelykstaande aan die vereiste Graad 12-sertifikaat met toelating vir graaddoeleindes aanvaar word; ‘n kandidaat wat ‘n gegradueerde van ‘n ander tersiêre instelling is of die status van ‘n gegradueerde van so ‘n instelling geniet; en ‘n kandidaat wat ‘n gegradueerde van ‘n ander fakulteit van die Universiteit van Pretoria is.
  • Kandidate wat voldoen aan die minimum vak- en prestasievereistes sowel as die TPT-vereistes van hierdie programme sal in die programme geplaas word, onderhewig aan die beskikbaarheid van plekke. Bogenoemde is nie van toepassing op keuringsprogramme nie.
  • Om toelating te behou, sal daar van leerders verwag word om 'n TPT van ten minste 28 in Graad 12 te behaal.
  • Lewensoriëntering word uitgesluit wanneer die TPT bereken word.

Addisionele vereistes

Departementele keuring is 'n vereiste vir toelating tot hierdie program.

Toelating is onderworpe aan toetse in die eerste instrument, musiekteorie en harmonie. Vlak 4 in Musiek as Graad 12-vak of Graad VII Prakties en Graad V Teorie (Unisa, Royal Schools, Trinity) – asook kennis van musieknotasie – dien as riglyn vir die verwagte standaard.

Ander programspesifieke inligting

  • Studente wat nie in terme van hul akademiese geletterdheid as risikogevalle geïdentifiseer is nie, word vrygestel van VAG 110 en VAG 125.
  • MME 400 kan slegs geneem word as die eerste instrument klavier is.
  • MEI 403 is uitvoerende kuns, met ’n publieke konsert van 1 uur in die tweede semester
  • Die keuse van ’n instrument berus op die veronderstelling dat ’n geskikte dosent beskikbaar is. Die Universiteit aanvaar nie die verantwoordelikheid om so ’n dosent aan te stel waar die normale koste oorskry word nie.
  • Om tot MTI 100 (Tweede instrument) in enige instrument behalwe perkussie, orrel, klavesimbel of sang toegelaat te word, moet ’n student minstens Graad V Unisa of ’n vergelykbare standaard in dié instrument bereik het; in die geval van orrel, klavesimbel, perkussie en sang, geskied toelating volgens die diskresie van die departementshoof.

Praktiese musiek
Studente kies ’n eerste en ’n tweede instrument uit die volgende: sang, klavier, klavierbord, orrel, klavesimbel, viool, altviool, tjello, kontrabas, fluit, hobo, klarinet, fagot, Franse horing, trompet, tromboon, tuba, slagwerk, harp, kitaar, blokfluit, saksofoon en ensemble. Jazz en/of klassieke rigtings word toegelaat, volgens beskikbaarheid.

Bywoningsmodules

  1. Bo en behalwe die modules wat in die leerprogram genoem word, is stu­dente verplig om die weeklikse voordragklasse en tweeweeklikse seminare by te woon.
  2. Studente wat orkesinstrumente as eerste instrument bespeel, moet in die UP-orkes of in ander ensembles speel – dit is ’n akademiese deel van die praktiese module. Studente moet uittreksels uit die Orkes- of tersaaklike ensemble-repertoire speel tydens die Junie- en Novembereksamens, en dit sal 10% van die totale punt tel. Daar word van studente verwag om ten minste 80% van die repetisies by te woon en om beskikbaar te wees vir konserte. Sien ook die betrokke modulebeskrywing.
  3. Onbevredigende bywoning van voordragklasse, seminare en orkesrepetisies kan volgens die diskresie van die departementshoof tot verlaging van studente se MEI-/MPM-jaarpunt lei.

Slaag minstens 108 krediete van musiekmodules op jaarvlak 1

Toelating tot die derde studiejaar

Slaag alle krediete op jaarvlak 1 (142 krediete) asook minstens 130 krediete van musiek-modules op jaarvlak 2.

Toelating tot die vierde studiejaar

Slaag alle krediete op jaarvlak 2 (155 krediete) asook min­stens 110 krediete van musiek-modules op jaarvlak 3.

Slaag met lof

Ten einde die graad met lof te verwerf, moet ’n student ’n geweegde gemiddelde van minstens 75% vir die modules op finalejaarsvlak behaal.

Fundamentele modules

  • Module-inhoud:

    Verkry, evalueer, verwerk, bestuur en bied inligtingsbronne vir akademiese doeleindes aan deur gebruik te maak van toepaslike tegnologie. Pas effektiewe soekstrategieë toe in verskillende tegnologiese omgewings. Demonstreer die etiese en regverdige gebruik van inligtingsbronne. Integreer 21ste-eeuse kommunikasie met die bestuur van akademiese inligting.

    This module intends to equip students to cope more confidently and competently with the reading and understanding of a variety of texts, to apply these skills in a variety of contexts and to follow the conventions of academic writing.

    Classical and jazz: Melody, harmonic concepts, diatonic triads, cadences, diatonic quartads, secondary dominants, contrapuntal techniques in a two-part texture, phrase structures, one-part, binary, ternary forms; inventions and variation forms. This module is available for students who get less than 65% for the entrance theory test. Students with as pass mark of 75% and above may continue to MKT 200.

    This module will cover a wide range of topics relevant for teaching music effectively and growing as a potential musician and music teacher. The teaching and learning experience will also include performing basic tasks in music technology that is required within a music career.
