Module content | Part 1: Rural and urban sociology This section considers the relationship between the rural and urban, against the backdrop of the emergence and development of both capitalism in its various guises and globalisation within the twentieth and twenty-first centuries in the global North and South. Questions on the nature of social interaction in communities, changing ways of relating, inequality and livelihoods, collective action, local cultures and modernities are considered.
This section looks at religion and secularism in social context. Specific emphasis is placed on religion and secularism as forces for social change. |
