Kindly find the accommodation process for UP bursary (incl. NSFAS) funded students in 2025 below:
- Students can self-place at any university-accredited accommodation. The list of accredited accommodations can be obtained at TuksRes offices.
- When sourcing for accommodation, take note of the different caps applicable to your sponsor for accommodation, as the student will be liable for the difference between what the sponsor pays/allows and the contract amount.
- The student will enter into a formal lease agreement with the landlord, and both the student and the landlord must sign the agreement for it to be valid.
- The University will open the payout application, and students will upload the signed lease in the payout application for verification. Once the lease and other documents have been verified, the university will pay the landlord directly on a monthly basis.
Please take special note of the following conditions:
- This process does not apply to bursary holders where the sponsor pays directly to the landlord through their own arrangement.
- If a student chooses to place themselves through the NSFAS process which is available on the website https://www.nsfas.org.za/content/. The university will not be able to assist with any queries or support relating to that process.
- Students living in non-accredited accommodation will not be assisted with this process as the Finance department can only pay for university-accredited accommodation.
