Appointment of Professor and Dean: Faculty of Education

The University of Pretoria is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Lindelani E. Mnguni as Professor (Department of Science, Mathematics, and Technology) and Dean for the Faculty of Education from 1 January 2025 until 31 December 2028.
 
Professor Mnguni brings significant experience in educational leadership and a commitment to advancing academic excellence, fostering innovative teaching practices, enhancing research initiatives and strengthening community engagement.

Professor Mnguni holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instructional Design and Development, an MSc in Biochemistry, a BSc Honours in Genetics, and a BSc in Biochemistry and Genetics. His academic career began at the University of Pretoria as a Lecturer in Life Sciences Education from 2008 to 2013. He then joined the University of Witwatersrand from 2013 to 2015, followed by the University of Johannesburg from 2015 to 2016. In 2016, he was appointed Associate Professor at UNISA, where he served as Chair of the Department of Science and Technology, and Director of the School of Teacher Education. Professor Mnguni left UNISA to become Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Witwatersrand from January 2021 to August 2024 before returning to UNISA in September 2024. Currently, he holds the position of Professor of Science Education.
