In line with the University of Pretoria’s (UP) vision of being an employer of choice, we are excited to inform you about one of our initiatives to enhance our employee value proposition.

We are delighted to announce that all current UP staff members – including permanent, fixed-term, contract and temporary staff and interns – will now have access to the UP Online Mall, a pioneering online shopping hub that was launched in September 2023 for UP’s alumni community.

The Department of Institutional Advancement and the Department of Human Resources have partnered to ensure that you, as a staff member, can now benefit from the same exclusive deals and discounts currently available only to our alumni community. With more than 400 top brands offering discounts on a wide range of products and services, you can enjoy savings on food, insurance, lifestyle services, health products, motoring, entertainment, travel, fashion, homeware, beauty products and much more!

A unique aspect of the UP Online Mall is that the profits from the subscription fees for the service contribute to the Tuks General Bursaries Fund, which helps financially disadvantaged students to continue their education. By participating, you’re not just saving on everyday purchases; you’re also playing a vital role in supporting our students.

To join, simply login to the staff portal and follow these easy steps:

• Click on the PeopleSoft HCM and Self-Service tile;
• Scroll down to the Remuneration and Benefits sub-tile;
• Select UP Online Mall on the left of the menu;
• Select the subscription term of R150 a month (this deduction applies until the staff member cancels their subscription; no refunds will be issued); and
• Click on the Electronic Signature button to finalise the transaction.

Once you’ve subscribed, you can start shopping immediately and access discount coupons that are redeemable both online and in-store. While you are able to cancel your subscription anytime, please note that payroll may only effect the change in the following pay run.
