2024 Annual Asset Verification Season: 2-30 September

On an annual basis, staff are required to verify the validity, accuracy and completeness of assets for which they are listed as custodians. The external auditors of the University have expressed concerns over the accuracy of the University’s asset register primarily due to poor compliance from custodians on the verification of assets. These concerns were highlighted to the University’s Audit, IT and Risk Committee and are a high focus for the 2024 audit.

All staff are hereby requested to electronically verify, on the PeopleSoft Finance system, all assets for which they are listed as the custodian.

All assets must be verified by Monday, 30 September 2024.

Please take note of the following:

  •  Assets with a cost less than R5 000 are not recorded in the asset register and will not be included on the list of assets to be verified.
  •  Assets above R5 000 that are physically in your possession, but not reflected on the asset list, must be reported on the verification page by using the link to “Add an Asset”.
  • Missing or unknown assets must be removed from the asset register. The request to remove the asset must be submitted to [email protected].
