The University of Pretoria (UP) Museums are excited to mark International Museum Day with a week-long celebration between 14 and 17 May 2024, with specialised guided tours and grand prizes!

International Museum Day (IMD) is observed annually on 18 May, and the theme for #IMD2024 is ‘Museums for Education and Research’. As such, UP Museums have partnered with Javett-UP, House Education and UP Campus Tours (UPCT) to promote university museums to a wider community and join hands with the global community to commemorate this important initiative.

During our celebration, you will have the opportunity to visit various UP Museums and Javett-UP galleries – FREE! This includes some of our latest exhibitions, such as Unspoken, To Not Forget, Homage to Pretoria, and the National Treasures of the Mapungubwe Gold Collection.
