Be cyber smart: stay ahead in the digital age

Posted on March 20, 2024

Amidst cyberspace's vast expanse lies a pervasive threat: phishing emails impersonating trusted sources. Three billion deceptive emails are unleashed daily, aiming to pry into sensitive data. Cybercriminals have wielded email as their primary weapon for years, disseminating malware and chaos. Despite its utility, email remains the battleground for the most prevalent cyber threat.

Don't be a victim: stay vigilant, scrutinise suspicious emails, and safeguard your digital realm. Be cyber smart – your shield against unseen adversaries.

Beware: cyber attackers mimic trusted organisations to deceive victims. Fraudulent emails posing as Adobe Acrobat Sign notifications lure recipients into opening malicious attachments or divulging sensitive information. These emails prey on curiosity, prompting clicks on unexpected notifications about supposed signed agreements. However, they are sophisticated traps designed to compromise security.

If you receive an email purportedly from Adobe Acrobat Sign, exercise extreme caution. Do not click the links or download attachments. Scrutinise the email for inconsistencies and verify the sender's address. When in doubt, delete the email and notify your IT Service Desk. ITS will investigate the email and take appropriate action to ensure that UP systems and data remain secure.

Your vigilance is your best defence. Stay informed, cautious, and safe.
