The Department of Institutional Advancement wants to be part of your celebrations this graduation season.

As we gear up for the autumn graduation season, scheduled from 15 April to 16 May 2024, we are reaching out to you for story leads that showcase the extraordinary journeys of our graduating staff and students. Whether it's a story of triumph and success or excellence and inspiration, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for the following types of stories:

• Interesting or niche research conducted, such as the story at this link: IsiZulu writer becomes first UP student to obtain master's in creative writing in African language
• Well-known individuals receiving degree, such as this story: Vodacom Bulls coach graduates with degree in industrial psychology from UP
• Graduates that are older or much younger than the rest of their class; see the following story: 25-year-old becomes youngest PhD graduate in 105-year history of UP Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies
• Students who have overcome obstacles and still excelled, such as this story: UP PhD candidate and lecturer on his road to academic success
• Largest/ first group in a particular field of study, such as the story at this link: UP caps SA's first cohort of veterinary nursing graduates
• Extraordinary achievements by students, such as this story: First black UP student to obtain PhD in Speech-Language Pathology

Submitting your story lead

Your lead needs to include the graduate's contact details/ degree/graduation session info as well as a short description of their story. 

Please submit your leads via this form by Monday, 25 March 2024.

We will follow up directly with the graduate to see if the story is viable.
