It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our academic colleagues in the Faculty of Economic and Management ScienceS (EMS), Lizette Kotze, who passed away on 19 December 2023.

Lizette, who was appointed at the University in July 2009, was a valued academic member of the Department of Accounting, and her untimely departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.

Lizette's dedication and passion for her work were evident in her contributions to the academic community. Her colleagues remember her as a conscientious and caring individual, always willing to lend a helping hand and share her expertise. Her commitment to excellence was an inspiration to both students and fellow faculty members alike.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Lizette was a devoted wife and loving mother to two children. Our hearts go out to her family during this incredibly difficult time. We extend our sincere condolences to Lizette's husband, her children, all her colleagues in the Department of Accounting  and other loved ones. May they find strength and comfort in the cherished memories they shared with her.
