A Kitchen Safari: Stories & Recipes from the African Wilderness by Yvonne Short

Unsung heroes, tireless, passionate, talented: the men and women of Conservation Corporation Africa’s kitchens are the modest magicians of mealtimes. In the bush the heat can be fierce and in the kitchens the temperatures often soar. But the show goes on chopping, peeling, slicing, stirring… accompanied by melodic singing and good-natured bantering. Guests’ children are welcomed into the kitchen with open arms wrapped in voluminous aprons, topped with tiny chefs’ hats hoisted onto chairs and included in the food preparations. African hospitality is nowhere more evident than in the kitchen.
