The University of Pretoria has recently been made aware of a scammer posting on private WhatsApp academic groups, that if the students are failing a module, and don't want to repeat it, they can text a number and they will "upgrade" the marks on the system at a reasonable price. 

In one such case, a student paid for the service only to be disappointed. This person is a scam artist and cannot change marks as stated. The university asks the various Whatsapp group admins to delete these messages from the group as soon as possible.
