UP APPROVED MEDICAL AID SCHEMES

As a UP employee, you can choose between the two (2) Medical Aid Schemes namely: Bestmed, and Umvuzo. The schemes have launched their benefit increase and enhancements effective 1 January 2024 and the increase per Scheme is as follows:

• Bestmed: 9.6%.
• Umvuzo: 7.07%
• Sizwe Hosmed: 10.02% (No further membership is allowed).

VIRTUAL (ONLINE) PRESENTATION SESSIONS

Virtual online presentations have been planned for the following dates below. These sessions offer an opportunity for staff to ask questions and will be conducted by the schemes and MOSO Consultants. You may attend any one (1) of the following virtual (online) presentation sessions irrespective of the campus you are based at:

In an endeavour for us to establish how many employees are attending these sessions, as well as to ensure that we reach all employees, an attendance register will be kept.  It is vital that you attend one (1) of the sessions.

MAKING CHANGES

Remain on your Medical Scheme but change your option

To stay on your existing Medical Aid Scheme but change your plan option or change Medical Aid Scheme, you need to complete the scheme’s option change form, which will be made available on request.

Deadline for option / scheme changes

To change your Medical Aid option or Medical Scheme, you need to make the change by no later than 30 November 2023.  Please note that if you don’t make a change before the deadline, you’ll only be able to change your option at the end of 2024. You are also welcome to contact the MOSO Consultants on the following telephone or WhatsApp numbers and or email address for any further assistance:
