We would like to provide you with the latest update on the ongoing Fire Rational Upgrade project at the Merensky 2 Library commencing on Monday, 28 August, and continuing until 1 September 2023.

Our priority is to enhance the safety measures within the building through the implementation of a Fire Rationale Construction project. As an integral part of these efforts, we will be collaborating with a contracted team to carry out necessary demolition work on levels 5 and 6 of the Merensky 2 Library.

During this period, we kindly request your cooperation and understanding regarding the usage of levels 5 and 6. In the interest of safety, students will not be allowed to sit and work on these levels while the demolition is in progress. However, you will still have access to both levels to retrieve materials from the collection. We encourage you to make use of alternative study spaces available within the library premises for your work during this time.

To ensure the least disruption to your regular library experience, we have scheduled the demolition tasks during the nighttime hours. The demolition operations are planned to begin at 20:30 and conclude the following morning at 06:00.

While the 24/7 Study Centre will remain accessible throughout this period, we want to inform you that the noise generated from the demolition activities in Merensky 2 may have an impact on your concentration. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause and assure you that we are making every effort to minimize the disturbance.
