Please note that NSFAS will be taking over the payment of allowances from 1 July 2023. The allowances that were paid by the University between 21 and 30 June 2023 will be for the month of June. This is the last allowance the University will be paying. NSFAS (via its designated service provider, Tenet) will pay students directly going forward. As such, all queries must be directed to NSFAS.

The University will continue to pay the accommodation allowances until NSFAS notifies us otherwise.

By now you should have received a SMS from a company called Tenet (NSFAS’ designated service provider appointed to manage all allowance payments, excluding accommodation allowances) to onboard into the NSFAS direct payment system. Please use the link provided on the SMS to register your NSFAS account with Tenet. According to the Finance Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) you will be required to provide additional information. You will not receive any allowances until you have provided the information required by the FICA.

For those who have not received the SMS, please be patient as the registration process is currently being updated with the relevant data. This process is managed by Tenet. As soon as this is concluded students will receive the onboarding SMS directly from Tenet.  

Once you have completed the onboarding process and provided the required FICA information, Tenet will make monthly payments in advance. This means that you will receive the July allowance on 30 June. You will be able to transact on your account electronically while waiting for your physical card.

Tenet will visit the different campuses from 24 July 2023 to issue physical cards. Times and logistics will be communicated closer to the date of the visits.
