“The Graduate Hub focuses on dedicated support for postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows, members of the university research community and active contributors to the University’s research activities and outputs,” says UP Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Tawana Kupe.
The University of Pretoria recently launched a Graduate Hub at the Graduate Centre, Hatfield campus. The Graduate Hub falls under the Research and Innovation office and it provides a conducive space for postdoctoral fellows and postgraduate students to meet, share ideas and network as they work on their research projects. In addition, the Graduate Hub provides academic supervisors with space to supervise students, both individually and in small groups. With these activities, it is hoped that this space will catalyse stimulating and intellectual ideas as well as innovative results.
The Graduate Hub boasts open spaces for meetings and discussions, computers, a boardroom and screens for demonstration during discussions and meetings. In addition, it consists of:
In line with the Graduate Support Hub’s objectives to provide academic, administrative and financial support to postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows across all UP Faculties, the Graduate Hub will be used to deliver training sessions, promote funding opportunities and assist students as they apply for scholarships and bursaries.
The Graduate Hub is open on week days, Monday to Friday, between 08h00 and 16h00 (this excludes public and university holidays).
