Dear UP student,

Currently, allowances for NSFAS funded students are administered by the University and paid into verified
student bank accounts on a monthly basis from February to November. For 2023, there will be a change as NSFAS will now be administering all allowance payments. These will be paid directly to every NSFAS qualifying and funded student via a NSFAS bank card.

NSFAS released a media statement on 16 November 2022 (find it at the bottom of this article) to this effect.
Going forward, NSFAS will make payments directly to students and will cover the living, transport,
and learning material allowances.

To date, the University has not received any official communication from NSFAS regarding the roll-out.
We urge all NSFAS funded students to please check the NSFAS website for developments

Please note that the University will not be able to assist with any queries regarding the payment of
