Water supply interruption

Areas:  All UP campuses in Tshwane

Buildings affected:  All buildings on the campuses may be affected

From: 19 August 2022
Until:   23 August 2022
Duration: 87.5 hours

Rand Water has notified the City of Tshwane of a planned water shutdown to connect the newly constructed B6 pipeline to the existing B6 pipeline at Garthdale within the Midvaal area. The shutdown is planned for 19th to 23rd August 2022. The duration of the shutdown will be 87,5 hours.

The Department of Facilities Management will provide water carts for the filling/refilling of the wheelie bins. Where needed the kitchens will be provided with drinking water.

The normal 1Stop procedure needs to be followed to request refilling of the wheelie bins/tanks.

The Campus Services Division of Facilities Management will assist with the transport of the wheelie bins to the ablution facilities.

Faculties and Departments need to make provision for drinking water for staff and students during the period of interruption where there is no backup water supply.

Residences are urged to use water sparingly in order to preserve the reserve backup water where installed.
Please make sure that staff and students ensure that all taps are closed to prevent unnecessary flooding when the water supply return.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
