The Special Collections Item of the Week this week is:
The Master of Mary of Burgundy: A Book of Hours for Engelbert of Nassau
Near the end of the 1400s, a Flemish artist known only as The Master of Mary of Burgundy painted one of the last illuminated manuscripts—a book of hours—for Engelbert of Nassau, a member of the nobility of the Netherlands during the 15th century. This edition, published in 1970, is a reproduction of the original, which is housed at the Bodleian Library, Oxford.
Special Collections has a display on the art of illuminated manuscripts in our Reading Room until the first week of August.
