Dear colleagues and students,

As valued staff members/students of the University of Pretoria (UP), you are invited to participate in the next phase of development of UP’s new Digital Transformation Strategy.

Digital transformation is a technology-induced change on many levels in the organisation, and includes both the exploitation of digital technologies to improve existing processes and the exploration of digital innovation, which can potentially transform the business model.

Your contribution to the development of the strategy is valuable and necessary, and you can make your voice heard by participating in a survey aimed at soliciting your comments and feedback on the specific aspects of the Digital Transformation Strategy. The survey should not take more than 25 to 30 minutes.

The questionnaire consists of multiple-choice, Likert scale and open-ended questions. Please answer the questions fully and as honestly as possible. The results of the survey will be used to inform and enrich UP’s Digital Transformation Strategy and will not be used for any other purpose other than as set out in the purpose statement.

Your contribution will be anonymous, which means you cannot be identified based on your answers, which will be treated as strictly confidential. Only team members will have access to the data to ensure the anonymity and confidentiality of participants. You have the option of not participating at all or discontinuing your participation in the survey at any point.

Focus groups and interviews

Over the next few weeks, some staff members and students may be invited to participate in an online focus group or interviews. During these interactive sessions, which will be facilitated by members of UP’s Dx task team, you will be asked for your input on how to enhance our digital environment and position UP as a university of the future.

It is important that we avoid thinking that digital transformation is the sole responsibility of our Department of Information Technology (IT) Services, as we are all valuable contributors as the end-users of this strategy. Our IT team will perform a technical lead role, but everyone has a part to play.
