Mamelodi Campus senior student advisor and team develop Career Hub

Posted on October 15, 2021

The aim of the Career Hub is to assist school learners in identifying a career that suits them best, by helping them clarify their value and strengths and discover the right opportunities to plan a pathway to get to where they want to be.

In addition to the empowerment sessions for Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners, input is given in job-seeking preparation such as creating a CV and other activities. Information on the following topics is available on the University of Pretoria’s Mamelodi Campus website (https://www.up.ac.za/mamelodi-campus/article/2950980/career-hub):

  • Career choices
  • Where to find bursaries
  • Where to study
  • Leadership and public speaking skills
  • How to study according to your personality
  • How to love Mathematics
  • How to handle exam stress

Grade 9 learners are assisted with regard to making subject choices. The Career Hub uses the Department of Higher Education and Training’s online National Career Advice Portal (NCAP). The purpose of the assessment is for learners to choose the right subjects according to their personality and interests. During March, more than 1 200 learners from the Mamelodi precinct wrote the NCAP, and the staff of the Career Hub managed to give them assistance with their subject and career choices via written feedback.

The Career Hub may be contacted through a WhatsApp number, 072 784 0699, or via email at [email protected].
