Prescribed and Recommended Textbooks data required for the first Semester of 2022

Posted on September 29, 2021

The database for submissions of prescribed and recommended books for the first semester of 2022 is already open and closes on the 5th of October 2021.

Access the database here: http://www.nevada-cloud.com/

Please verify, update and adjust the information of the book, especially the ISBN, to the newest edition or leave a note of a forthcoming publication. Complete the template in full as we use all the information (publishers included) for statistical (and other) reports.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Prescribed titles are books that students need to buy, therefore this information will be sent to the bookshops, the Library and other relevant parties. Please do not liaise with a specific bookshop only, as we need to comply with the Competition Act and all parties should be able to receive and retrieve this information. Study Guides are also not used to obtain books: only the official list is used.

Recommended titles are for extra reading and also where lecturers feel students need not buy the book. This list will not be sent to the bookshops, but the Library will keep a copy.

The Library tries to obtain as many eBooks as possible. Unfortunately, not all eBooks are available on platforms accessible to the Library, even though it is available in e-format to the students. In these instances, the Library will still obtain a hard copy and assist with scanning of sections according to copyright laws for uploading to ClickUP.

If your department has a textbook administrator, make sure that the necessary info reaches this person well in time before the 5th of October. Late submissions run the risk of not being available in the bookshops in time.

Contact [email protected] or 012 420 3160 for assistance, e.g. new modules that should be added or old ones changed.
