South Africa celebrates National Book Week from 6-12 September.

To celebrate National Book Week this September, the Department of Library Services and the Humanities Faculty are running a ‘Match the Brain 2021’ competition and are hosting their annual Mind-Altering Books 2021 webinar.

To enter the competition:

ENTER HERE. Study the list of titles and speakers carefully and click the relevant boxes to link speakers to titles. Remember to choose one title per speaker.

Enter by the 6th of September 2021 to stand a chance of winning one of three lovely Protea Boekwinkel online vouchers to the value of R300, R200 and R100.

The competition is open to all UP staff and students. The three prize-winners will be the entrants with the highest number of correct answers. Please note that the judges’ decision will be final.

Save the date: 10–11 November 2021, International Symposium on Robotics and AI in Libraries and the Education Sector

We are pleased to announce a new International Symposium on Robotics and AI in Libraries in the Education Sector!

This follows a highly successful pre-conference on robotics with the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau, Berlin, held in August 2019. The Department of Library Services, in collaboration with IFLA IT section, are organising an International Symposium on Robotics and AI in Libraries, from 10 – 11 November 2021. The Symposium will be virtually hosted by the University of Pretoria (South Africa).
