Women in Science Symposium

Posted on August 17, 2021

Professor Tawana Kupe, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Pretoria (UP), cordially invites you to UP’s 3rd annual Women in Science Symposium, with special guest speaker Professor Sehliselo Ndlovu.

The event is underpinned by the UN’s theme for International Women’s Day 2021 – ‘Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World’ – which celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

This symposium will look at how we can all play a role in: (i) challenging stereotypes, biases and social norms; and (ii) providing women and girls with equal access to education, healthcare, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes. Collectively, these factors have the potential to fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large.
