At the University of Pretoria, the Registrar launched the Information Governance and Privacy Protection (iGaPP) Programme at the beginning of 2019. The main aim of the iGaPP Programme is to establish a sustainable, decentralised model of information governance and compliance with data protection legislation such as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation. Educating employees on how to manage personal information effectively is a critical part of this compliance journey.
This series of POPIA Q&A sessions, brought to you by the iGaPP team, consists of the following topics:

This session will focus on the critical aspects of dealing with student information.

15th June | 11h00
This session will focus on the critical aspects of dealing with employee information.
- POPIA Q&A: Research
22nd June | 10h00
This session will focus on the impact that POPIA has on research and research data amongst the research community.
Each session is 1.5 hrs long. There will be a 20 – 30min presentation at the beginning of each session followed by a question and answer session.
