The Special Collections Book of the Week this week is:

South African Memories by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick.

Published posthumously, South African Memories comprises the recollections, or “Scraps of History” as Fitzpatrick called them, which he had been writing about his rich and varied experience in South Africa. The volume includes anecdotes on Rhodes, Kruger, de la Rey, the Jameson Raid and the Boer War, as well as detail on gold and diamond prospecting and mining, and early days of travel and transport in the Transvaal Lowveld and the then Rhodesia.

This book is available at Special Collections, housed on level 5 of the Merensky 2 Library, and is part of our African (ZA) Collection.
