The library’s furry friends are back to provide comfort during exam time!

Posted on October 31, 2019

The Department of Library Services (DLS) invites all UP students (and staff members) to come and pet away their exam stress by interacting with the therapy dogs of the largest dog therapy organisation in Gauteng, TOP Dogs, during the first week of November.

Due to popular demand, TOP DOGS will be visiting three campuses and will be situated at the following venues:

The library knows that things can get RUFF for our students during exam time. However, research indicates that human-animal interaction has a relaxation and stress-reduction effect on people, even after as little as five minutes of interaction with a therapy dog – hence this initiative! So, come and experience first-hand how man’s best friend can lower your stress level and enhance your mood.

For those of you who are wary of canines please note: therapy dogs are carefully selected and fully trained, and their role is to provide emotional support to people. They are calm, friendly and well-mannered, and registered with a therapy dog group such as Top Dogs.

If you’re able to, TOP Dogs will appreciate a donation in the form of dog food or cash as they are a non-profit organisation.

We hope to see you at one of our pawsitive events!
