The University recognises the need for individuals to have flexibility and simplified benefit structures that will address their personal needs and allow them to manage their personal finances in a manner that suits them. Therefore, the University is now providing an alternate provident fund and insured death and disability benefits structure to afford employees a choice. Read more
Sale of redundant furniture equipment and vehicles 30 Aug 2019
Please be informed of the sale of redundant furniture, vehicles and equipment to be held at the Redundant Asset Store on the Hillcrest Campus on 30 August 2019 from 09:00 to 12:00.
All items will be sold “voetstoots” by closed tender. Only staff and students with valid personnel or student cards will be allowed to enter the premises and tender. No cash sales will be made. Tender lists and forms will be available at the Redundant Asset Store. Read more

Date: Tuesday 27 August from 07:30 to 16:30 - Plaashek area
Date: Thursday 29 August from 07:30 to 16:30 - Plaaswerf area
Duration: 9 hours

Water supply interruption: Hillcrest Campus 28 - 29 August 2019
Date and time: 28 August 2019 from 07:00 to 17:00
Buildings affected: Eng 4 Construction site, Rag Farm, Cloakrooms, Hockey Clubhouse, Swimming Pool Complex, Squash Complex, Tennis Clubhouse, Uitspan, Football Clubhouse, Plaaswerf and Sinkstoor
Duration: We need to implement the work in a phased approach over 2 days but buildings will not be without water for more than 8 hours in the 2 days.
Date and time: 29 August 2019 from 07:00 to 17:00
Buildings affected: TuksVillage, South Street Guardhouse, Daan Swiegers Clubhouse, Rugby Clubhouse, Athletics Clubhouse, Athletics Pavilion, Rugby Pavilion, TuksVillage, high performance centre (hpc) and Cricket South Africa Building

Passing of UP Alumni Carrol Boyes, Functional Artst, Designer and Businesswoman
It was with sadness that the University of Pretoria learnt about the passing of design icon Carrol Boyes on Wednesday 14 August, at the age of 64.
Carrol Boyes was born in Cape Town on 21 November 1954. She matriculated at St Mary’s Diocesan School for Girls in Pretoria and studied art at the University of Pretoria in the 1970s, graduating with a major in sculpture. She began her career as a teacher and from the late 1980s started producing her artistic tableware. In 1991 the first Carrol Boyes shop was opened, and from there she led her creative team from strength to strength, with over 350 employees participating in the manufacturing and retail process by 2019. Passing away of Prof Chris Nagel
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that our colleague and friend, Chris Nagel, Professor in the Department of Mercantile Law, lost his battle with cancer and passed away on 18 August 2019.
His contributions to the Faculty and academia have been immense. His untimely departure is a great loss to us all and he will be sorely missed. He was an academic and editor of note and a mentor to many students and staff members. Read more
