Apply for the Hubert H Humphrey Fellowship Program for academic year 2020/21

This ten-month non-degree fellowship programme is offered to mid-career professionals working at the policy level who have a record of leadership and a commitment to public service.

Fellows are based at leading American universities for ten months to pursue self-designed programmes to include independent study, coursework, and an internship with an organisation in their field of expertise.

Eligibility requirements

  • South African citizenship OR a minimum of 5 years of permanent residency status in South Africa;
  • Minimum of a four-year undergraduate degree from South Africa (BA + Honours);
  • Minimum of five years of full-time professional experience beyond the attainment of a first university/undergraduate degree prior to August 2019;
  • Limited or no prior experience in the United States;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability;
  • Record of public service in the community; and
  • English language ability.
