As part of its centenary celebrations, the University of Pretoria’s (UP’s) Faculty of Humanities recently hosted a school arts exhibition at the Javett Art Centre at UP. The exhibition showcased young artistic talent from different feeder schools in Gauteng.
Speaking at the exhibition, Professor Vasu Reddy, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, said, “The faculty is not just keen, but also eager and committed to seek out, identify and celebrate young artistic talent. This event is about looking ahead, reimagining the future, introducing young talent, and acknowledging and celebrating their creativity. There is a future for art in so many different ways. Ideas and creativity are infinite. Art is not just about the creative, it is also about the entrepreneurial. There is so much that art opens up, both at a personal and professional level. Art is where the future of jobs lie.”
