Passing of Prof Ronél Rensburg from the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the passing of Prof Ronél Rensburg on 22 April 2019.

Prof Rensburg joined the University of Pretoria in 1999 and at the time of her passing was a Professor in the Communication Management Division of the Department of Business Management.  She served as the Head of the Department of Marketing and Communication Management from 2000-2008 and as Programme Coordinator for the Division between 2014 and 2017.

She was a well-respected researcher who published extensively.  She held a B3 NRF rating since 2013, which was confirmed two weeks ago. She has been guest editor for the International Journal of Public Affairs (2011) and Public Relations Review (2014) and served on the editorial boards of five accredited journals in the field of public relations and communication management.

Her areas of specialisation were communication and reputation management, strategic communication in corporate governance, and international communication. She has supervised numerous postgraduate students since 2000.

She was a founding member and coordinator of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences’ Centre for Communication and Reputation Management (CCRM). She was a past President of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) and previous board member of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA). She received the Fellowship of PRISA in 2016.

She was a speechwriter and trainer for politicians and captains of industry, and wrote a regular column for Business24 that focused on communication and reputation management issues.

Prof Rensburg was well respected and loved by her colleagues and students and will be fondly missed.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, 26 April 2019 at 14:00 at the NG Kerk Suid-Oos, 402 Olivier Street (CNR of Stella Street), Waterkloof, Pretoria.  The church is also known as the NG Kerk Stellastraat.

We wish to express our sincere condolences to her husband, Ren, her family, colleagues, students and friends.

PEOPLESOFT – Period Cost Centre Transactional Report

In October 2018, a Cost Centre Transactional report was developed in PeopleSoft. This report provides the available balance and detail of transactions for a specified cost centre in an easy to read “credit card statement” style format, with no further drill down required.

Due to the reporting of budget figures on a financial year basis, it was not possible to run this report for specific periods, or periods that overlapped years. Consequently, a second Cost Centre Transactional report has been developed that allows users to view detailed transactions for specified cost centres spanning over multiple periods.

This report does not provide the available budget and should only be used to view detail of transactions. Furthermore, due to limitations on the report, we recommend that it is only used for periods less than 24 months.

Regards
Mr MN Moolla
