It is with great sadness that the Faculty of Humanities heard about the passing of our dear colleague Kotie Odendaal, whom all of us have known and admired so well.

Kotie passed on in the early hours of Saturday morning, 15 September 2018. Her family were with her at this time.

She was born on 14 July 1955, and joined the University of Pretoria on 12 June 2002. She worked as our “marketing person” (officially known as “Senior Communications Practitioner”) in the Faculty of Humanities. Kotie bravely fought cancer for several years, while she tirelessly continued with her work in the faculty. We always admired her friendliness, professionalism and passion. 

We acknowledge and appreciate her great contribution to the faculty and university. On behalf of the faculty we express our sincere condolences to her family, colleagues and friends. We also extend our deepest sympathy to her husband Hendrik and their children Pieter-Ben, Hannes, Japie and his wife Lecia. Less than a year ago, her first grandchild Anja was born.

We will all surely miss Kotie.
