The University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) was launched on 9 October 2015 in Hong Kong. It emphasises collaboration, coalition building and networking among members and with other networks and alliances. The University of Pretoria (UP) is one of the 14 founding USRN-affiliated universities worldwide and currently the only African USRN-affiliated institution.

The formation of the USR Network is based on the belief that universities have the obligation to work together to address the economic, social, cultural and environmental challenges in the world and to find solutions so as to make our world more just, inclusive, peaceful and sustainable.

UP will host its University Social Responsibility (USR) Day on Tuesday, 11 September 2018.

On this day, faculties and community partners will exhibit material illustrating some of their social responsibility initiatives, so as to encourage others to participate in social responsibility initiatives as well.

Alumni, staff, students and community partners are invited to attend the planned exhibition.

Some of the materials that will be exhibited includes posters, photographs, papers, newsletters and portfolios.
